Lucky Chewed on My Spectacle

[Thursday, 14 October, 2010]

I spent the morning blogging on other blogs even though I knew I was lagging behind on my personal blog. I had a chat with Yaozhong before sunrise. I took some cereal and slept after 6am.

I was pissed off with the neighbour staying right above my flat for I had observed slamming of the bedroom door daily as early as 6am since long ago and finally confirmed it. It was definitely done deliberately for the banging noise was very loud. It happened almost every time when I stayed up till after 6am. When Lucky first came, the sudden sharp and loud noise would wake him up to start barking. I was not sure if the lonely bitch was the culprit or she could have rented a room, but there was a high chance that she was the sick fellow.

I woke up before noon and was pissed off with Lucky for chewing on my spectacle. One of the ends was torn and only the sharp metal was left. I threw him out of my bedroom and ignored him when he was crying in the living room alone.

I woke up again at 3pm and went to the gym after having my lunch. The main purpose of the early trip was to help Tze Khit with his website again. Bobby bought chay kuay teow for me in the evening. I did my workout after that and Letian came over to discuss with me over the business plan suggested by Andrew. Bobby was sharp and realistic and warned us about the little benefit we could get. I had my own doubts too because Letian was simply too similar to me and we were too soft to be good sales-persons.

I tried to show my brothers my spectacle at the house’s door and it broke immediately when I tried to remove it from my ears.

I rested for a while before going down to walk Lucky with my elder brother.

Great Weekend

I had one of the greatest weekends ever. Good Friday prolonged the happiness.

Shopping at Anchor Point, Queensway Shopping Centre and IKEA was great, followed by a “midnight movie”.

I had my new spectacle made at People’s Park Complex and after more than a year, the degree was the same.

On the last day, I had late breakfast at Seng Kang Ya Kun Kaya Toast, late lunch at Tampiness Burger King and followed by a little swim at Seng Kang Swimming Complex with a MacDonald’s meal in the end.

The Longest Slide Ever

Last Friday after reaching home from work, I had a very short nap while waiting for my mum. We took bus to People's Park Centre to fix my blue spectacle. The lady advised me to make a new pair instead but luckily the owner of the shop came over and told us it could be fixed. This doctor had been giving my whole family great discount over the past ten years.

We went to Swanston to get toothpaste. The Colgate ones came in three and cost around $5.20 and NTUC was selling the pack around two bucks more; Mustafa could be more expensive.

We went to Chinatown Complex's hawker centre for the famous sting ray and it was the first day they changed the chilli, which put me in tears. Nevertheless, it was still delicious. The drinks stall auntie finally stopped boosting about putting twenty-five limes into the drinks.

I finally started washing the pair of shoes which was drenched totally by the sea water during the Dragon Boat trip weeks ago. I removed the pipe of the washing machine from the bathroom before the cleaning job, and went to bathe after that.

My brother got home and then later, I realised the washing machine was running. I was not sure if he or his girlfriend was using the bathroom and thus did not question him whether my mum had instructed him or either one of us had accidentally hit the button.

I was in front of my computer when there was loud noise from the washing machine, which usually happened when it was releasing the dirty water. Suddenly, I remembered I did not put back the end of the pipe to the bathroom and thus, I quickly dashed towards the kitchen, to slide like a soccer player over a distance within a second. I hit my elbows a little but my alertness did not save my shorts from being drenched.

The kitchen was flooded with water by then. So much for the chores to clear the water, my brother did together with me, and that I had to take a quick shower again.

The pros were that the kitchen had not been mopped for quite long already and that the slip was actually fun.

One advice for everyone is to choose the correct kitchen tiles to prevent slipperiness. The contractor who did the renovation for my house donkey years ago obviously used cheap materials.

My Blue Spectacle is Down

The last minute call for volleyball was a burden to my tired brain.

It was a hectic afternoon even though Weitat was driving and it made travelling easier. After work, we went to the car dealer's side for Jingkun to settle some documentation, and Weitat drove me to Tiong Bahru MRT while waiting. It had been long since I last walked around in Tiong Bahru Plaza and my brain was filled with memories.

I took train home and started packing my volleyball gears into my bag. Then, I gave the guys a call and Weitat told me to stay put. It gave me sufficient time to clear my mails, read the RSS feed of my friends' websites, and even enjoy a stick of ice-cream.

Weitat insisted to come to fetch me despite he was not in a good mood. I was actually quite worried about the ERP charge. Anyway, I dashed to buy some muffins when they arrived and started eating inside the car. My navigation skill to CCAB to fetch Mingfa was much better than usual.

After picking Mingfa up, Weitat sent Yi Cheng home at Regent Heights. I was quite curious about the "Xiao Gui Ling" opposite. Anyway, Weitat sent Mingli home next to get her equipments and both of them rushed up for toilet meeting. Next, we proceeded on to Weitat's house where we got to see the ultra "soft" Pika running. After that, we met up with a traffic jam before arriving at the school. Jingkun reached earlier than us.

We started the game with great tempo. I could feel myself hanging in the air and my timing was so good that I could easily create earthquake, except that we had to be friendly and gentle with the ball. In the later part of the game when stronger opponents arrived, we were less serious. My nightmare arrived during a blocking when the ball hit my spectacle and soon, the joint of the nose pad broke off. I was even too busy to go for repair at the optical shop and I was not sure how much that would cost for the soldering.

We left without dining together again. I had a cup of instant soup and then dozed off within hours without having dinner again for the third or fourth time within less than two weeks.

Spectacle Frames and Dinner

[Friday, 29 December, 2006]

My elder brother found his old spectacle that had a broken frame. He wanted to go to Chinatown for dinner and fix it on the way. Since my spare spectacle was damaged by one of the Clementi ITE guys and could not be fixed, I agreed to put aside my stuff for the night.

My mum brought us to the optical shop at the second level, which the owner offered very nice service to my younger brother weeks ago. However, the shop did not sell the frame size of my elder brother’s spectacle and I gave a sigh of relief; we had been regular customers at the optical shop at People’s Park Centre for more than ten years and it was quite out of point to change shop when their services and prices were so good.

Hence, we took bus 145 to People’s Park Centre. We saw one of the old staffs who quitted months ago and she told us she had changed her mind. Everyone was as busy as usual and one of the customers praised the boss, Mr Koh, so much that his face turned red.

My brother got his new frame easily. As for mine, they could not fix it back and I had to settle for a new one as well. I stated clearly that I wanted a cheap plastic frame for that old spectacle was used for playing volleyball purpose and needed not be stylish. In the end, the girl picked one frame that was priced at $120 and I was taken aback. However, my mum opened her mouth again and the nice boss kindly priced both spectacle frames at $20 each. However, since my brother claimed that he was broke, I had to foot the bill.

We went to the renovated hawker centre below OG for dinner. We had the famous “Liang Dou Fu” at $3 each bowl. The taste was okay but the plain looking soup was fantastic. My mum ordered some snacks to add to the dinner as well.

The drinks stall auntie approached us and when I asked her to introduce some drinks, she listed “ma ti”, “soya bean” and “lime juice” but she claimed that guys did not like the latter, which I ordered. Mingfa knew well how much I liked lime juice but due to the fact that I had gastric problem, I did not take it for quite long already.

My younger brother finally reached the place but he had his dinner somewhere else already. Then, we rushed off home to catch the 9pm channel 8 show. We took a cab outside the Indian temple and my mum knocked her head while boarding. The fare was $2.80 and that showed how short the distance was.
