One of the greatest casualties after reformatting of my operating system was the loss of my Chinese songs’ data. For as neat as I could be, I had been maintaining the information properly.
All the Chinese characters turned into weird symbols. In the past, this could be solved simply by going to “Regional and Language Options” in “Control Panel”, and set the language for non-Unicode programs to Chinese, which was found inside the “Advanced” tab.
My elder brother who reformatted his computer hours before me had faced the same problem, however, he was lucky enough that he had made backups of his songs. He did a replacement of the songs and everything worked fine with the configuration of the “Regional and Language Options” setting.
I had no idea of the problem to the amended files’ details.
Anyway, I resolved to re-label all the tracks’ title, artist, album and lyric for the sixty over songs inside my “new” folder, having to give up on my other songs. It took me the hours and I managed to finish it by four AM in Sunday morning.
I spent the long weekend better than previous weeks; more things were done although the efficiency level was still too low. I did not even know about the Deepavali’s holiday until Daniel told me on last Friday morning.
My upcoming directory site had moved to another era with the confirmation of the design and layout, such that I could go ahead with the remaining coding without fears of amendments.
I added four Chinese songs to my collection: 吴英仔 - 双手的温柔 (Wu Ying Zai - Shuang Shou De Wen Rou) 吴宗宪 - 留心 (Jacky Wu Zong Xian - Liu Xin) 李玖哲 - 想太多 (Li Jiu Zhe - Xiang Tai Duo) 薛之谦 - 黄色枫叶 (Xue Zhi Qian - Huang Se Feng Ye)
The meet-up with Irwin, including golfing, was great except for the fact that my flu and cough had not recovered.
I also managed to spend some time trying out the add-ons for Mozilla Firefox to enhance my surfing experience.
My favourite show – Shao Nian Yang Jia Jiang – ended on Sunday. Mediacorp actually screened the last three episodes on two separated Sundays, and thus, each time I got to watch it for one and a half hour.
Since I had already finished watching it through Youtube, the last episode shown on channel 8 was not anticipating. The ending of the story was never as exciting and touching as their previous battle at the Golden Sand, let alone any other earlier episodes.
Till now, I'm still wondering how many friends have been catching the drama faithfully like me since the first episode; I'm wondering if anyone shows the same taste as me.
Tell me I'm not weird. Tell me I'm not the odd one out.
Call Me, But I won't Pick Up – this line must be familiar if you have been observing my MSN nick regularly.
More than one month ago, I was using it.
I suppose some people were thinking that I was in a foul mood and wished not to answer any call.
I actually changed my ringtone and I wanted to hear the beautiful song. If anyone were to call me, it would be playing; but if I were to accept the call, the song would stop.
You have to be an emotional person to appreciate it though.
二十年 (Er Shi Nian - Twenty years) by 张萌萌 (Zhang Meng Meng)
Theme song plays a big part to drama shows and "二十年" is a great combination to the show "少年杨家将".
Young Warriors of the Yang Clan (少年杨家将) is one of the most touching Chinese dramas ever. It features Chinese heroes from the Song Dynasty. The show started showing the family's proudest moment at war with the invading country – Liao. The story continued with the evil plots of the Liao's general, Yelu Xie, but the Yang warriors managed to beat him off with their perseverance over and over again. Apart from the external invasion, they had to overcome the prime minister's backstabbing as well. The sweet love stories added climates to the show.
We always expect good ending in heroic dramas, especially when big stars are involved, but even with the arrogance and cutest actors we have to expect the downfall of the warriors. If you have been catching the show since first episode like me, you would definitely taste the heartbreaking feeling towards the end.
Tonight, the emperor was going to betray his most faithful warriors' trust, leading to death.
Other than <二十年>, some other theme songs include <告诉他,我爱她>, <诀别诗>, <拂袖> and <越走越远>.
The best thing about tonight's that we're not fighting Could it be that we have been this way before I know you don't think that I am trying I know you're wearing thin down to the core
But hold your breathe Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you Over again Don't make me change my mind Or I wont live to see another day I swear it's true Because a girl like you is impossible to find Your impossible to find
This is not what I intended I always swore to you i'd never fall apart You always thought that I was stronger I may of failed But I have loved you from the start Ohhhh
But hold your breathe Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you Over again Don't make me change my mind Or I wont live to see another day I swear it's true Because a girl like you is impossible to find It's impossible
So breathe in so deep Breathe me in I'm yours to keep And hold onto your words Cuz talk is cheap And remember me tonight When your asleep
Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you Over again Don't make me change my mind Or I wont live to see another day I swear it's true Because a girl like you is impossible to find
Tonight will be the night that I will fall for you Over again Don't make me change my mind Or I wont live to see another day I swear it's true Because a girl like you is impossible to find Your impossible to find
Recently, I have been engrossing with this “new” show on channel 8 called “新醉打金枝” (Túy đả kim chi), shown on every Monday to Wednesday, at 1030h. It is actually an old China show filmed three years ago and sadly, Mediacorp only releases it now. This forty episodes series show is a comedy with very cute characters and plotting. The ending song gives a tranquillity feeling.
I received two presents and an “ang bao”. Obviously, the “ang bao” was from my mum.
The first present was a G-Shock watch and that was my first G-Shock even though many friends already had one when they were even in primary school. My team-mates bought the watch for me and another Baby-G for Ruoci.
Next was a Logitech mouse cum keyboard set from Kian Wee, Gilbert and Barnie. Gilbert obviously knew what I really needed since he was one of my closest friends. The mouse certainly did me good since my old one was spoilt and could not function properly sometimes. Whereas the keyboard would certainly give me the ability to type better and thus faster since my old one was an antique; the best thing was that it came without “insert” button and yet, with some media controls at the top.
Thanks for the birthday wishes and presents.
I do not really like receiving present even though it will make me feel that I have more friends because in future I will feel guilty if I do not give my friends nice presents. It is a torture to think of what to buy for whoever as my brain cells is already killed by my late night sleep and websites.
I had dinner with my family on Saturday night, which was the eve of my birthday. We went to Marina South for steamboat since my mum had been mentioning about that place for quite long. We went to the famous “Zheng Fa” where they gave live crab and prawns but it was a letdown to receive a smelly crab which stunk a lot even after cooked. All the food was so salty that I gave up after a while. My younger brother had diarrhoea for the two days.
On Sunday, my actual birthday, I went to the beach with my team-mates and sadly, many of them could not make it. I missed my ex poly gathering because of it and the worst thing was that my secretary promised me a kiss if I were to make it. I supposed none of the ex classmates knew it was my birthday except for Wenchang and thus it would be weird for me to join them on that day anyway. We were cursed and lost every game to a group of beach fanatics who went down every weekend. At night, we went to Tiong Bahru for steamboat where others joined in. They got me a cake since I didn’t have any this year but I felt so weird and remorseful for wasting their money. It began to drizzle as we began to blow the candles.
I met up with Gilbert and Raymond (Barney) at Cityhall on Monday. Both Gilbert and I were very shocked when we realised Raymond was on time when we were even suspecting he might fly us aeroplane again. We went to Marina Square’s food court for our dinner. Raymond did not sleep due to project while Gilbert was dying of weekends burnt, and thus I felt guilty for them to turn up. I did not watch many cartoons when I was young and thus when Raymond started to sing “his” song, I was quite amazed, but only by the rhythm.
Barney Theme Song Lyrics
Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination And when he's tall he's what we call a dinosaur sensation
Barney's friends are big and small they come from lots of places after school they meet to play and sing with happy faces
Barney shows us lots of things Like how to play pretend ABC's, and 123's And how to be a friend
Barney comes to play with us Whenever we may need him Barney can be your friend too If you just make-believe him!
This is one of my favourite songs ever since the show “天涯侠医” begins showing on channel 8 on every weekends 7pm to 9pm.
I do not understand Cantonese but it has a magnificent feeling beyond my description. Maybe it’s due to the contents of the show, which has deepen the feeling.
It is so difficult to find a good quality version of the song to upload into my mobile phone.
Description: This singer remixed the national anthem and sang a song called 'Negarakuku' about polis corruption, racial preferential treatment, government inefficiency in Malaysia, and chinese school graduates barred from entering government universities. Now the government is suing him for "shaming the country and national anthem".
My Malaysian colleague, Jacqueline, introduced this video to me last week, which I think the singer cum composer is really talented and humorous.
Early in the morning, I came across this story of a hooligan and it really worried me so much how young girls could be harmed. Maybe it was already like that since long ago and I had been living in a secluded life.
I was waked up by Aida once again regarding the Ang Mo Kio flat. My younger brother and his friends were at my house by then but they soon left the house.
It was an inefficient afternoon and things went pretty bad. House viewing for the Ang Mo Kio flat was postphoned to the next day.
I tried to update my blog was it seemed to be on a slow pace with the television on.
Channel 8 broadcasted an old but meaningful show again. This romance comedy “贱精先生” (If You Care …) was led by 陈奕迅 (Eason Chen) and 钟欣桐 (Gillian Chung from Twins). Though I missed the opening previously at Channel U, I found the characters quite familiar and decided to go by my luck at 1.30am.
Eason and Gillian were childhood friends in a village who were separated later on. Gillian fulfilled their dreams of becoming a firefighter but Eason was influenced by the City life, became a famous interior designer who had forgone everything for the sake of money.
This selfish and sly guy met an accident one night and he got a weird hand which would let him feel the pain and thought of anyone he touched. At the same time, he reconciled with Gillian. Through experiences, he finally became a good man.
The song of the show was 十年 (Ten Years) by Eason Chen himself, which was a very popular song quite a few years ago.
Eason’s shows always captivate my interest, and together with his song, they give good entertainment, reflection and motivation. Such nice old dramas are always worth going through again.
Not many people would appreciate it but from an angle of arts, it is beautiful. Of course, it is not a Jay Chou’s song and thus you should not repeat the song more than ten times at one go before you get sick of it.
To me, it is a song children should listen to because of the beautiful contents. It is an educational song, teaching virtues which every human being should possess - filial. It would be good if someone who understands the lyrics could explain the meaning to the kids.
Personally, I was involved in the rehearsals of the “父母恩重难报经” (The profound parental love) musical show and heard so much of the solo singings, with the actors’ enthusiastic to bring out the meaning, I felt so touched by the song; it cannot be explained.
You may preview the song below but please buy it if you think it is good. Get back to me if you sincerity want to buy the album, I’ll get my Vivi to do it free of service charge for you.
