One Burden Off and Elder Brother was Home

[Monday, 27 December, 2010]

I was trying hard to solve an issue on Smart Tuition’s CMS that caused auto reload on completion of the first load. I walked through my coding and saw nothing that would trigger it. I was suspecting the server side but I failed to solve the problem. I went to sleep at 3am.

I was not sure if I did doze off but I got up at around 5am. Before 7am, I set off to the office.

It was quite a productive morning. I finished an article on deep breathing for the tuition agency website to help people to relax themselves. Then, I did SEO for it, together with the stress management article. After that, I started to work on Tze Khit’s website.

I had lunch with Mike at Everton Park. The standard of the fish and chips from the western food stall was a little below average. After taking lunch, I continued with Tze Khit’s website and it gave me quite a big headache since almost every link is targeted at the live site. When I was almost done with all the tasks on the piece of paper, he dropped me an SMS to let me know that he would get Daoxiong to update the site since he knew I was very busy. I felt it was really right since Daoxiong was the original person who started his two websites. I finally put a burden off my mind and started working on SEO for Smart Tuition.

I had dinner with Mike at Kampong Bahru at the Muslim prata shop near the bus-stop. We ordered Maggie goreng, laksa and mutton soup. None of them tasted good. After going back to the office, I was exhausted soon with the lack of sleep.

My elder brother had reached home before me. We went down to walk Lucky together. I got two packets of milks and some heat reducing drinks at the NTUC before we went home.

Blink Blink Blink

[Monday, 2 August, 2010]

I slept at 3.30am after blogging and washing up.

I woke up at around 10am when the Tanjong Pagar GRC team came over to take photos for the housing upgrading work. I got prepared and left my house after 11am to collect my passport. I reached around fifteen minutes earlier and received my passport quite soon. I got home within an hour after departure. After taking a short nap, or rather, dozing off, I spent the time on Facebook to invite people to the National Day event.

I left my house after 4pm and reached Takashimaya at 5pm sharp. I stood by and watched construction work at the big empty square right opposite the big screen. Twenty-five minutes later, Jade messaged me to meet at 313 Somerset. At first, I thought it was a prank. I walked over in one of my lousiest mood and walked around the building first time and on my own. I was relieved when I received the next SMS that she and her classmate were at Superdog already. I looked at the directory and went down to basement 3.

We went to Paragon and finally decided to dine at Fish and Co where I had my usual fish. Then, we walked over to Wisma to shop for Liurong’s cosmetic stuff before she left. Jade and I went back to 313 Somerset to walk around and finally sat at Food Republic for tea before we left.

Weitat’s Advance Birthday Celebration

[Tuesday, 4 May, 2010]

I slept after 4am again but this time, I woke up much earlier at 10am, feeling that I should be doing something worthy instead of slogging endlessly over my websites with little progress. However, I dozed off again before I could do much work.

Gilbert’s sudden SMS to inform me that he would pick up his camera from me in the evening was a challenge to me since my ex colleagues and I were going to celebrate Weitat’s birthday in advance. I quickly called him and he told me he did not take MC again despite he was still sick.

Jenne called me in the late afternoon to tell me that she would be going to town from Choa Chu Kang and arranged to pick me up. We decided to buy Weitat’s cake at Amara Hotel. I quickly took my shower and also burned the photos taken during the orientation camp into a CD for Hirman before I set off to meet Gilbert at the entrance of South Point. We were chitchatting away happily until Jenne rang me up and I rushed off to the Amara Hotel to meet her. We chose a chocolate cake and the lady told us we had to wait. We burst into laughers in amazement when she answered us that we had to wait for simply ten minutes.

After getting the cake, we went straight to the Wine Company besides the old NIE. Hirman was sitting alone and he had already finished his dinner with a glass of red wine on the table. The DSLR camera he placed on the table captured my interest. Both of them thought I would be able to operate it easily, however, I was in fact a newbie to expensive gadgets. I ordered a plate of fish and chips and the serving took more than forty-five minutes to come, inclusive of a reminder. Sadly, it did not taste good. The chicken wings were quite well done though and the Champaign was awesome.

Weitat, Joei and Magdalene arrived after 7pm. The last to reach was Zaki. By then, I already had a better understanding of Hirman’s five-years-old DSLR camera, given by his friend. It was a very cosy night except that mosquitoes were having a big feast as well. On the other hand, both Hirman and I seemed to be completely safe. The hottest topic was the student being possessed and all the horror stories disturbed Hirman badly. It was a fantastic dinner with the few of my greatest pals.

Hirman sent me home. I quickly got changed and grabbed my laptop before joining him at the carpark. Then, we started the long journey to his temporary rented place at Changi Village. It would be my greatest regret if I had rejected his invitation for it was a cool Terrance house owned by LTA. There were a small living room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom, and it was as good as a chalet. The only problem was that there was no television and I had to give my favourite show on channel U a miss.

In fact, I was quite worried about my mum since my younger brother was already not at home and my presence at home would be more comforting.

Lunch at 3 Monkeys and Completion of Resume

[Friday, 20 March, 2010]

Early in the morning, I bothered Josephine for the last time regarding my resume. However, while she was clearing up the last mess, my two bosses stunned me as they called me over. I knew it from Kevin that they had actually requested him to stay behind for three more months and thus I was afraid to be persuaded to continue with EIP so that they could re-allocate their manpower to conduct the required modules. Luckily, they only asked me to keep a look out for potential contract staffs.

I had a great lunch date with Weitat, Hirman, Joei and Jingkun. It was a new combination of some of my greatest friends cum colleagues; although I would greedily prefer all my great colleagues to go out together just like when I was working in my previous company. I was quite stressed since I did not know what small tokens I could give to everyone on my last day, and it would probably be an empty thought just like any other times.

We went to Holland Village at the 3 Monkeys restaurant. We had the entire second storey to ourselves, which was cool since nobody else would disturb us and that we would not have to restrict ourselves to noises and craps. The waiting time for the food was, however, absurd, especially when the place was so empty. I did not like the fish and chips but the fries were quite nice.

Back in office, I started off with the final task allocated by my boss. The office became quieter soon and I left by myself at 5pm sharp to continue with my resume editing at home, but to doze off before I could do anything.

I went through Mingfa’s friend’s company website and was not very certain that I could really assist them in anything to my interest. I made it a point to send him my resume anyway.

It was not a Day for Volleyball

[Tuesday, 16 March, 2010]

I finally got to dine together with my Shi Fu, Josephine. We went to IMM’s Fish and Co and she gave me very good guidance on my resume while waiting for the food. The meal was on me since she last treated me at New York New York the previous time at Jurong Point. I supposed we hit off well because both of us were very direct-to-point people.

The gathering of the MTRCs was never a smooth job; it was the last task I would be helping my boss with. I spent the afternoon updating my resume.

It was perhaps, one of the greatest mistakes I made, to join in the volleyball game at night. I knew there would not be many chances that I would play so often in future and thus, I gave up the dinner date with Irwin and Eugene.

The pain on my left shoulder was deadly. Even receiving a light ball would cause me cold sweat and I gave up soon knowing that the condition had worsened and that I would not be able to do well in the game.

Perhaps, the bad feeling was already back and the game was never as joyful as the previous week.

Table Tennis with My Favourites and Dinner with the Oldies

Early in the Monday morning, I was shot again. During lunch time, I went to the office to realise everyone was not meeting out for lunch. Sometimes I just wondered if I should just start joining others instead of having to wait and even being informed of unavailability last minute. There would not be many chances for me to dine with others, including the students. In fact, I did not mind packing the lunchbox back to the office every day.

I was quite lucky that Joy was free and thus we went to Clementi Central together. I learned more about the post office from her. Then, we crossed over the road over Clementi Town Secondary side for a quick bite.

It was quite a good afternoon for I spent quite some time near the PE room playing table tennis with my favourite class. When the ball fell into the drain, I tried to reach for it but it was too deep and my shirt got into contact with the ground. The concern of them, especially Jiali, made me feel fortunate. The last survivors were Boon Peng and Criz. I was destroyed easily in my slippery shoes.

After reaching home, I took a little bit of my mum’s bon bon cha cha before I washed myself up. I missed the bus 80 right exactly in front of me across the road and I felt stupid for checking the IRIS website. I met up with Irwin at the arcade at Vivocity. Then, Huiling joined us, followed by Tingfeng. Tingfeng suggested Dian Xiao Er but somehow we switched over to the White Dog Café, which seemed to be a better choice.

Eugene was late since he had some miscommunication with Irwin, thinking that we were meeting at Bugis instead. I had a plate of tradition fish and chips, and it came in three long pieces, given a smaller diameter, easily to be consumed than other restaurants’. The taste was good as well.

I wanted to talk to Eugene but I was not sure if the rest of them knew about his recent trouble, and thus I kept it within me. When they started talking about food and travelling, I felt like I just came back from ancient. When Irwin tried to get me involved by telling Tingfeng I wanted to get a DSLR camera, I seemed to turn into a caveman from his replies.

The problem of communication lay on me for I was not bothered to keep myself updated with news, not even my hobby – photography. I was never a food craver, neither an experienced traveller. I was too different from most people.

The manager quite scared me with her fussiness about the slightest arrangement of the tables. We stayed inside the restaurant for very long and left after 10pm.

Dinner with Happy Peiyun

I finally got to meet up with Peiyun again after years. Eleven years of friendship was fate too kind to me. We got to Boonlay MRT at almost the same time. She was kind, friendly and simple like usual. We had dinner at New York New York but I finally realised I would prefer Fish&Co after the dinner.

We walked around and she repeated her concern whether I was too tired or bored. She grabbed some clothes and by the end of the night, we went to Popular where she bought me a phone pouch to repay me for the dinner. I did not really want to get it since my current tearing one was bought by my younger brother and I would never feel good to dump it.

Comparing the meal and pouch, I would prefer getting the physical gift to being treated for dinner because the gift could last longer for good memorial; the food went into the stomach and would be forgotten in no time after flushing the toilet.

I felt very uneasy for not sending her home but I supposed she would be shyer if I were to do it.

This friendship I would cherish, for nobody I could think of could be kinder than her.

Last Indoor Volleyball of the Year 2009

On Wednesday, I had lunch with Magdalene, Jingkun and Weitat at West Coast Plaza’s Thai Express. It was my second time having lunch with Magdalene, and also, at the exact same location. The food was great. After that, we went to the bubble tea shop for the $1 cheap drinks and once again, the girl placed the pearls in before I could stop her.

I hurried my existing work and had to wait for further instructions before continuing, thus I was able to do my own stuffs without any burden the first time in the past two years. It was a pity that the office had to close by 7pm.

I went down and saw students arriving for taekwando and I could sense problems. Uncle Jiaming had arrived and I started talking to him. Mr Peh arrived to solve the problem by requesting the coach to have the training outside the MPH instead.

Mingfa helped me to packet fish and chips over and it was instead lousy. The french fries were similar to botak Jones’ but they tasted much awful. After eating, I joined in their second game and it was an easy match to us. Everything turned over completely since Mingfa stepped out of the court and everyone was restless. We could never get back our forms even when Mingfa was back. My energy was optimised but I could only stroll around the court most of the time. In the last game, we finally regained some spirit. We had fun finally.

During a spike, my right calf cramped and I collapsed on the floor. I missed the next few chances to perform myself since I could no longer jump properly.

We went to Carl’s Junior at East Coast Park. For the second time, I felt dizzy after the travelling. I was afraid that I could not finish the set meal and thus, I chose not to eat for the first time.

Wednesday, Mute Again

On Wednesday, Jingkun, Weitat and I went to IMM to meet Dorothy for lunch. We settled on the Banquet food court. Daniel arrived with his students while Mei Hoe and Vivien joined us.

I targeted the western food stall for a plate of fish and chips and the stall holders were two China ladies. Her English was very frequent but her pronounce was worse than mine. It was the first time I was being asked whether I wanted mashed potato or fries for my fish and chips and she pronounced it totally way off that she had to use Chinese instead. It was not my fault for the next customer faced the same problem.

It was not a peaceful meal as usual, having to chew on the nasty fish, and hearing debates and people trying to battle each other on volume and ideas. Sometimes I really wondered if they had understood each other’s intentions after each conversation since they did not want to give way. At least, I knew Mei Hoe would not get the main point most of the time.

From Weitat’s car accident, we talked about car insurance and then human’s insurance, but it seemed to stretch further away. There were times when I tried to ask something, none of them heard me as usual. I was never interested in competing because it would only make things worse.

After lunch, a few of them were going to Giant to get stuffs for the next day’s teambuilding event and luckily Jingkun wanted to go back to the office to do work and thus I could follow his car back together with Mei Hoe and Vivien. If only I did not have any project on hand, I would have enjoyed the shopping with the rest of them.

Back to the office, I did a final touch-up of a design for PowerPoint and also helped Jingkun to solve some programming problems. Then, I joined Bernard’s car to Dover MRT station.

Met Firman at SIM

The second day suffering alone was more withstandable than the previous day. I loved students who were appreciative. I had my lunch with Daniel and his students followed us. The fish and chips at Clementi’s Botak Jones was filling but the frozen fish did not taste very good.

Weitat gave me a ride to SIM again. While I was going up the escalator, I saw a familiar figure, and he banged the folder on his hands on the wall. It had been ages since I last saw my army buddy, Firman. I accompanied him for his dinner instead of setting up my laptop at one of the study tables. I was quite envious of him, being able to purchase a HDB flat together with his mum.

After meeting up with Yuanle and Soon Siong for dinner, we tried to finish the tutorial fast. Soon Siong and I left the lab quite early again, while others stayed behind to do their project discussion.

Thrown $20 Ez-link Card to Sleep in Lecture

For the second consecutive Saturday, I went down to SIM for lecture. Although it was the last day of the intensive lecture for this semester, things did not spell good.

The lecturer executed his power to make everyone feel sleepy again and I was so wasted throughout. During lunchtime, Yuanle and I dined at the canteen together with his colleague. Both of us had fish and chips. I saw Lynn and Zijian who were nearby. Since I was very tired, I did not go over to address them but it turned out to be a wrong decision since Lynn told me her hottest classmate was actually presented.

I was expecting the lecture to end very early but somehow it was dragged until the very last half an hour. I overheard from some others that they were clueless as well. Yuanle did doze off many times as well but he was flooding the lecturer with questions after the lecture, which scared me off.

I was very frustrated to wait for around twenty minutes for bus 75 to arrive. The bus-stop began empty to crowded and soon, quiet down again. The worst thing happened when I realise my EZ-link card was not in my wallet. I dropped a two-dollar note instead and it began my depressive day. It was the first time I made such mistake of losing important card.

I was sitting at the farthest back of the bus and a young sweet girl boarded the bus with her mum. The back number sign of the bus was lying on the seat and the girl put it at the back. As the bus moved, the sign fell and hit her head. I took the board from her and put it besides me.

Since I got home late, my plan to take a quick nap failed. After clearing emails, I went off to Vivocity to meet up with Irwin. I was right on time but Tingfeng and him were earlier, queuing at Sushi Teh. It was the first time I went inside and it was quite nicely decorated. Irwin’s friend, Eugene, came and joined us, and we shared some dishes together. Irwin footed the bill of around $95.

After Tingfeng left, we went to collect the online booking tickets and it was billed under Irwin’s credit card. I met Albert who was camping there with his friends probably after their beach volleyball game.

The long awaited movie, Chi Bi 2, was quite impressively filmed but the fake storyline turned Irwin off. At least, I was able to concentrate fully. After the movie, three of us went off in different directions. We were supposed to go to Dragonfly with Kaiye who flew us aeroplane. Anyway, I did not have the chance to hear from Irwin about his recent story.

After reaching home, I was busy with filing of police report online, and spending large amount of time at the SAF, Ez-link and SIM websites.

The Work Stress and Gone Case Lecture

The day started miserably for I was doing poster design instead of going to sleep early. There were stress placed by colleagues even though I could push the load away since I had already told them I was extremely busy with other stuffs and my studies.

I went to sleep after three AM to wake up after eight and quickly washed up for work. I met my problem child female on train and had a nice teasing of her before we boarded bus for two pathetic stops.

The day was quite special since O level results were going to be released at two PM and my posters were going to be distributed. Lessons and duties were affected and I had to cover up duties for Alvin in the afternoon. Before lunch, I saw Aaron talking to Jonathan, he seemed to be doing his usual pinpointing on the poster, and I was stressed up even more for I knew well I had not done my best but that was a last minute work.

I was already stressed up enough for all the design works and my studies but the afternoon drove me to a more desperate end. The sudden bomb set me up with giddiness and brain block.

I set off to school earlier than ever at around five thirty PM but bus 52 kept me waiting while most of the other bus numbers had arrived twice. I met Pui Kuan before the bus arrived. I first approached #2-22 to collect my student pass and they did not have my record even though my pass was already done and thus I stayed quite some time over there.

After calling Venus to check her results and that she finally picked up her phone, I went to the canteen alone for dinner. I had a plate of fish and chips and the hot serving torched my tongue. The fish was crispy outside, which I was neutral about it, but the fresh was soft and quite well done. $3.50 was dirt cheap compared to outside.

I entered the lecture theatre earlier than usual and sat there to rest but it was too short to doze off. The lecturer came in to start speaking without microphone. It was difficult for me to catch his accent and I went blank at some of his words. The lecture was too lengthy at first and I started to wander off soon even though my eyes were fighting hard to look at the slides.

I felt terrible for not understanding the lecture at all and I knew the worst cause of the night was due to the stress earlier on during working hours with all the rush work and last minute disorganisation.

I managed to catch bus 75 after pacing with my shoelace dropping off, in exchange of girls-watching at the bus-stop where many babes were around. Even though I got to catch more than fifteen minutes of the Yi Zhi Mei show, it was not as enjoyable as usual with the mild headache.

Sweet Gorgeous Slim Sexy Girl at SIM Bus-Stop

Mingfa came over to join us for lunch and Jingkun took us to the newly renovated West Coast hawker centre to fill our stomachs. The place was crowded and there were queues in front of most of the stalls.

The previous western food stall, which I used to frequent, was not around anymore and thus I tried the other one. The uncle had an assistant who was going around irritating everyone; she simply had no direction and was grumbling to herself whenever she was holding plates to find their owners.

Jingkun went over to cancel his order and I was quite lost for Weitat needed to rush back to office. Luckily, at the time when I was going over, my fish and chips was ready and I managed to save time from letting the old auntie wandering around before reaching my table. I had to swallow everything fast and the lousy plate of plain fish and chips without any salad; and the fish tasted plain as well.

After going back to office, I was quite troubled with Photoshop again for George’s site, which needed to be up by next week.

In the afternoon, I went over to meet up with Mingfa for dinner and it was almost a wrong decision since I forgot that he had to do debrief his students after the training, which dragged until almost six PM. We went to Clementi hawker centre. I enjoyed the chicken cutlet, which was served in bigger proportion than usual, but some parts of the meat were a bit overcooked. He was waiting for Wilson to join him before going to NUS for the girls’ training.

I took bus 184 and went up to the UOW administration office at level six to look for Bernard. I was looking at a list of number outside the door and it took me some minutes to confirm that UOW was not listed there. I called Bernard directly at his office phone line and a lady picked up to tell me that he was gone already. She told me not to hang up while she was searching for my letter at Bernard’s table. After wasting my phone bill for some minutes, she confirmed that Bernard had not helped me to prepare the document to confirm my enrolment in the university to defer reservist. I was quite disappointed since Bernard was the one who actually asked me to go to find him before my lecture and that not only he was not around, he did not even prepare it for me. I had to agree with Jingkun’s judgements for the staffs.

I went down to level four immediately to get my student card done. It was just a photo taking session and I had some doubts in the photographer’s professionalism since he did not seem to get anyone to adjust their faces at all; at least it was an impression he had given to me.

While going down to the lecture theatre at level two, I met Professor Willy and we exchanged smiles but I believed he could not really recognise me as his student among so many people. I had been sitting on the third or fourth rows in front every time and I hoped that at least he knew my existence even though he would probably be going back to Australia after the two weeks’ intensive lecture; he seemed to be a great guy.

Anyway, since I had to cross over to the opposite side, I took the escalator down to level one to cross over straight and take the other side’s escalator up to level two again. Professor Willy eventually reached the theatre before me. I thought I would be late for the third time, but since he was late for five minutes as well, I considered myself as reaching on time and it was great.

The lecture proceeded immediately but the speakers were irritating me with the echo. I was not sure of the “system” and thus I controlled my urge to request for adjustment of the sound mixer. Nevertheless, I got used to the pain on my ears after some time.

It was a tiring evening for me again but at least I felt better than the day before since I had around six hours of sleep even though I did not manage to pay back the “sleep debt”. At some points of time, I almost shut down. I saw a guy who resembled Yuanle but I did not want to lose my image to confront him in case I had recognised the wrong person. We were dismissed earlier than usual since Professor Willy did not want to start another lecture to end twenty minutes later.

Like usual, I went to the toilet before pacing to the bus-stop opposite, however, it was quite a lucky night for me to enjoy a great scenery. There was a sweet girl at my height, waiting for bus with her group of female friends. She was wearing very short shorts and her slimness was quite addictive. Her friends boarded the buses one by one and she was all alone, standing there so gorgeously and tempting. I wasted the chance after waiting for some time for my bus 75 to arrive and confirmed that I did not have the guts to approach girls on street. Anyway, she was not totally my type even though I could hardly take my eyes off her.

I managed to catch my favourite show Yi Zhi Mei on channel U for half an hour instead of five minutes.

Amara Hotel Food Court Western Food Stall Scam

I had my hair trimmed on Saturday evening. I was preparing to book the appointment for the next day but the auntie told me to go down immediately before she locked up the place.

My mum went to find me and we crossed over the road to Amara hotel to dine at the food court at level four. I went straight to the western food stall and happily ordered the fish and chips set. Later, the lady stared at me for money and I handed over the five bucks but she told me it was five-fifty.

I was not surprised of them increasing the price and thus I looked at the signboard’s pictures again and looked for the price, which clearly stated five bucks only. I smiled and asked politely whether did they update the price, she simply pointed at an A4 size paper on the table for me. I was stunned for I did not notice it at all as I thought it was just a menu.

I felt very offended with the attitude of the lady because she made it sound like it was entirely my fault for not knowing the price change. If I were her, I would have apologised before pointing to the A4 sized paper, which sat on the “crowded” table.

Anyway, the paper read that from 7th August onwards, the prices of all the sets would be adjusted up for fifty cents. Why were the prices on the signboards not amended until this day, after four months?

I wondered how many people were conned like me, ordering the food and then only realised about the change of price later. What if I had only brought five bucks along with me and that I thought it was enough to enjoy a plate of western food, ordered and realised I was lack of fifty cents?

I was further astonished by the proportion of the food; everything had shrunk. Since I had chosen not to have rice, the usual practice was to change the proportion to French fries; however, the amount of French fries was unreasonably little.

To be fair, the fish tasted good and I would not mind the price, but I was too disgusted by their dishonesty and bad attitude that I would condemn the stall.

Volleyball with Baseball Player

After the long weekends, returning to work on Tuesday was uneasy.

Boss took leave to go to library so that he could concentrate on his work. Weiming and Jonathan’s presence was another bonus to resist the emptiness of the entire office.

Jingkun left to find his girlfriend during lunch time. Weitat took Daniel and me to Botak Jones, where we waited for Mingfa and Jennifer’s arrival. Weitat, Daniel and I shared two big plates of fish and chips and they were quite yummy.

I took Jennifer’s car back to work. All of them left before four PM and I was left “alone” working on the website’s design. The only noise was Alex and his two students who were working on videos.

In order to allow the Serco guy to leave early, I left the office after six PM so that he could lock up the place earlier. Later on, he opened the MPH door for me. As the rest started to arrive one by one, we were ready to set up the court but the security guard came in to chase us out, saying that we had booked the place only from eight to ten PM. I was angry for she was doing it on purpose with instructions from some bastards, and taking account that we worked together before, she was such a disappointment.

Volleyball was supposed to be a fun game but it really depended on the players as well. I was totally not used to playing with arrogant people who showed no respect towards his own team, and worst still, towards the game itself. We had a baseball player for the night who expected his own team member to handle the ball which seemed to fall from the hundredth storey.

If I could not do something well, I would not have the creep to lecture others about how to do it. If I did not have the mood to play in the game, I would step out of the court instead of ruining other people’s game.

The boredom drove me insane and that I started to make noises like an escaped mental patient. I left earlier.

Badminton with Guilt

I got a little stressed on Wednesday on the Gallery2 project. I hated simple talks when actions were far beyond imagination. The frustration was caused by some guilt as well since the holiday mood had dragged the process down a lot. At least, I was spending the hours in the office well by learning PHP on my own.

We were supposed to pick Mingfa up at the nearby bus-stop for lunch together but Weitat missed the stop as we were crapping inside the car. We had lunch at Holland Village's hawker centre near the carpark. The fish and chips I ordered from the China lady's stall was not of satisfactory standard.

I did a little work before going down to join the rest for badminton. Mrs Ng came back specially to join us. I paired up with her and while saving a shuttle cock near the far back line, she turned behind suddenly and my racket hit hers, which ended up hitting her nose. Guilt filled my afternoon.

It was the second time I played badminton after ten years of missing-in-action in the sport and the swinging of the racket was a total new challenge to me. Without doubt, we had good games filled with fun and laughers. The spraying of insecticide halted our game and we left early, which made me feel bad since Mrs Ng had come all the way down and we could have played longer together. It seemed that other colleagues came down to join us after we left.

Bad News in the Office

On Friday, the drizzling rain coaxed my laziness to go to work. It was the second or third time of the week that it rained in the morning.

The three of us had lunch at IKEA and the restaurant seemed to be catering their "fish and chips" set specially for me as their promotional set for the day. I felt the hassle in ordering food somehow and I almost forgot to get a cup of drinks for Weitat. In the end, I forgot to return him his three bucks change. Weitat enjoyed the fish and chips but I did not like the thickness of the flour.

We did not have a tour around my favourite furniture departments at level two, but instead, we went straight to level one where Weitat got him a small pillow to hug inside the office.

There were some bad news at the office. My few continuous days of delighted mood was eventually destroyed by the story of a smoker cum liar and also a brainless big shot. Besides this, Jingkun had confirmed about an email which the hints were already quite obvious; to Weitat and me, it did not really matter much, but it could affect Jingkun quite a lot. No matter what, it meant a change of plan for him and his future and I really hoped he could struggle.

It seems that I'm always doing things based on trust but nobody, regardless of moral and honesty, can assure everything. I have a number of friends who have sounded so promising and put dreams into my sleep every night, and yet I’m still struggling at nowhere after all these years. It is a fact that nobody in this world can really go all the way out to save you every time; we have to depend on ourselves.

Meijun gave me a call suddenly and asked if we were free to meet her up since she was alone and had to wait for quite some time for another job interview. Both Jingkun and Weitat already had appointments. I did meet up with her in case it would turn into another teasing session against me even though she had a boyfriend. However, I felt guilty for the rejection and moreover it was quite rare for any friend not within my gang to ask me out.

We left the office quite early in low spirit.

New Semester's Workload

On Wednesday, we went to Bukit Timah for lunch. Weitat took the hassle to drive over to pick Mingli up, where Mingfa was already waiting at the void deck. The five of us proceeded to Waffle Town.

The four of them ordered almost the same stuffs and the chicken looked tasty. For my seven-plus-bucks fish and chips, the crews took the trouble to travel to Japan and dive into the sea to catch the fish. They did ask me thrice whether I was served already and it took me two disappointments to finally enjoy my lunch. Though I was dining with four friends, it seemed that I was having lunch alone since their plates were already empty. It was a pity that I rushed to gobble up the food.

We got back to the office in time for the meeting. The usual laughers were there to keep everyone entertained. Our workloads for the next semester were somehow or rather, finalised, except for Jingkun's. There was a great change in the actual plan for my case and I was not sure if it was a good or bad news. I probably could not focus on my own websites then since some new learning had to be done. Another bad issue was that I could not get to see familiar faces with the changes.

I suddenly recalled and felt pressured for my boss seemed to be spreading news that I was an expert in using Adobe Flash. I had embarrassingly touched it only for a couple of months for my final year project, which was more than four years ago when I was in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. For that period of time, I was quite geared with the programming part of Flash but not the common animation, and that I had already lost my memory by now. It seemed that I had to spend time to recap and master it soon.

For that afternoon, I had to redo some documentation since using of Excel to type out the dates was not allowed. Thus, I had to handwrite the dates and resign for the two sets of papers which required 120 signatures each.

Dinner and Shopping at Jurong Point

The first day of work for the week poured exhaustion into me. I repeated the same mistake of wasting time and money to join my gang for dinner at Jurong Point. I had too many unfinished work to handle and the peer pressure was placing me into further suffocation.

Initially we planned to go to Vivocity, which was much nearer to my house but Mingfa seemed to be shagged and thus we quickly changed the plan and alighted from bus 963 to switch to bus 154. It seemed to be a long journey that I started dozing off soon.

This picture does not do the big portion of fish well enough. Better picture next time!

After strolling around and biting of waffles, we met up with Mingfa at the food court where I had one of the largest plates of fish and chips ever. Quantity was its only pro and eating too much of the hard fish was simply tiring; it ridiculously cost six bucks, which the highest price you could ever find in a normal food court.

We continued walking around the shopping centre and Mingfa bought an ankle guard which cost over hundred dollars.

I had a tiring journey home in the train and eventually dozed off before I could do much work.
